I’ve come a long way and my story is just getting started ✌🏽.
I was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. Some people call it Shaolin, others call it The Forgetton Borough. Most people say it’s New Jersey. I grew up in low-income housing within a middle-class neighborhood, a socioeconomic paradox. The parameters of that housing complex, while limiting in prospect, provided formative building blocks for my upbringing and worldview. My mother instilled the most important things: honor, pride, courage, and the idea that I am somebody.
Those pillars and convictions have carried me the last 31 years.
My life has grown far beyond the small square I grew up inside of.
In 2016 I graduated from Babson College, a top business school, as a Gates Millennium and Posse Scholar. Since then my career adventure has spanned across publishing (Penguin Random House), community-driven startups (The Wing and Round), and venture capital (Worlife Ventures, Northzone, and Visible Hands). I’ve washed dishes at minimum wage all the way up to leading community at a venture-backed company. Today, I’m building my passion project Openspace, a community space.
Underneath all of these experiences is a Black girl dreaming. Dreaming of Black advancement. Dreaming of community spaces. Dreaming of creating more inspiring futures.
